Awards scheme in Ghana gives artists depression-Da Hammer

Veteran Sound Engineer and Sound Producer Da Hammer has asserted that awards schemes in Ghana mostly give artists depression.

Speaking in an interview on Accra based Asempa FM, Da Hammer indicated that the manner in which awards are organised end up hurting most musicians when they fail to win awards they have been nominated in.

He mentioned Okomfour Kwadee who got depressed after he lost out in VGMA years ago.

According to him, he can’t comprehend why an artiste would earn 9 nominations and end up not winning any at various awards schemes.

Da Hammer further stated that artists after failing to win awards get depressed due to the disappointment and trolling on social media.

He called on award scheme organisers to look critically at how some awards are being organised in the country.
