A trending video shows the moment Railroad workers run to rescue a 3-year-old from electrified train tracks.
MTA locomotive engineer William Kennedy and assistant conductor Marcus Higgins said a minute later and the result would have been very different.
Kennedy was heading to Tarrytown April 6 with an empty train when he noticed a toddler walking toward a live rail (swipe left for video).
“It was a normal Thursday coming out of the yard,” Kennedy said, until he saw something drop from the corner of his eye and decided to slow the train down to get a better visual. Once he got close enough, he realized that it was a young child. He noticed the child was walking towards the live rail, which has about 600 volts of electric power.
MTA workers believe the 3-year-old who has autism had fallen onto to the train tracks. The mother and sister were found on a street nearby looking for their missing boy. Thankfully this made it to good news and the boy is safe and sound.
