Andrew Jones is a 26 years old professional bodybuilder and the founder of AJFitness. Jones was on the run a few years back when he started having respiratory problems. Jones was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy by doctors.
Cardiomyopathy is defined by the Mayo Clinic as “a disorder in which the heart muscle is defective.” It makes pumping and delivering blood to the rest of your body more difficult for your heart.” How could something so awful happen to someone at the pinnacle of physical prowess, as everyone in the community seemed to be asking? “I was in denial when I was diagnosed because it didn’t make logical that someone who takes care of their health would develop such a fatal disease,” Jones acknowledges. Jones had to go through a series of surgeries and was fitted with an LVAD (left ventricular assist device).
Andrew Jones carries an artificial heart that is connected to two batteries with him everywhere he goes. He charged the battery the same way he charged the battery on his phone every day.
Andrew first noticed symptoms of the condition in 2012, when he became out of breath during one of his daily runs. Two years after the event, he began coughing blood and was brought to the hospital, where it was revealed that Andrew had heart failure and required an immediate heart transplant.
