Reports indicate that the Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency and deputy minister of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru (Alhaji Tufeiru ) got involved in an accident on the night of Friday, March 31, 2023.
The accident happened while the NPP MP was on his way to parliament to attend the all-important meeting and voting process regarding the three newly-proposed revenue bills.
However, instead of Alhaji Tufeiru rushing to the hospital considering how serious the accident was, he decided to head straight to parliament to cast his vote first.
GHOne TV’s Francis Abban who was reporting live from the parliament house revealed in his live feed on his Twitter handle that the Nanton MP was allowed to cast his vote ahead of his colleagues before an ambulance fetched him for medical care.
The Majority caucus in parliament had 137 members while the minority is made up of 136 and considering that every bill needs more than 50% of the votes for a bill to be passed, Alhaji Tufeiru risked his life to vote for tax in parliament.
That’s the kind of accident the Nanton MP Alhaji Tufeiru survived and yet headed to parliament first to vote for the passage of the revenue bills before seeking medical care. Wow! pic.twitter.com/KInl6YQwrd
