Woman allegedly scalds her husband's chest and face with hot water

A Kenyan woman has been charged with assaulting her husband by splashing hot water on his chest and face, causing him bodily harm.

Esther Wanjiku Githae was charged before senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro in Kibera on Friday, July 9.

According to the charge sheet, the woman scalded Peter Kariuki on July 5, at 9pm in Kagira within Dagoreti in Nairobi county.

Police said Kariuki arrived at his home and when he knocked on the door, the woman opened and splashed hot water on his chest and face.

The complainant was forced to spend his night at his neighbour’s place. The following day, he was taken to hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

Police say that members of the public later called the OCS from Kabete.

Esther, however, denied the charges and was released on Sh10,000 bail.

The case will be mentioned on July 17.
